Job Tasks
- Design, plan, execute and analyze projects and experiments, reporting to the CSO
- Develop and optimize different microbial strains for recombinant protein production
- Identify bottlenecks and re-design organisms accordingly
- Perform fermentation experiments at lab scale and product characterization
- Keep a rigorous laboratory notebook
- Prepare and present results
- Manage and mentor junior strain engineering members
Required profile
Education & Experience
- Degree in microbiology, synthetic biology, biological engineering or related disciplines + years experience: PhD +1-3; engineering/master’s degree +4-6; undergraduate degree +6-8
- Metabolic and genetic engineering expertise
- Experience in recombinant protein expression and post-translational modifications
- Experience managing/mentoring team members
- Experience working with strains for commercial use
- Speak English professionally, ideally speak some French
Soft Skills
- Independent, well-organized and proactive work style
- Ability to work with the highest accuracy and properly prioritize
- Well organized and with significant experience in project management
- Good at troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Excellent communication skills and positive attitude
- Interest in alternative proteins
- Motivation to work in a challenging start-up environment
